Your Home Away From Home

So you did it. You said your goodbyes and boarded the plane. Maybe you’ve been here before. Vacation, studies, curiosity, business, a loved one. But this time felt different. It was to be a longer stay. So, you furnished your new home to your best abilities, struggled to acclimate, and tried your hardest to understand the new system; to understand why Americans knock before entering an open-door environment.

i-94 Magazine is a tunnel with home at both ends; two bright lights, beacons of information, if you will. From NY’s rain to Cairo’s heat, LA’s sun to London’s fog, i-94 brings you the eclectic stories, profiles, and reviews that you as an international living in America should know about.

i-94 represents the world from colour to color. We’re not here to inform you of the latest news or the latest trends, but rather the cultural happenings and interesting minds, both in America and beyond. We’ll be bringing the world to your new home, doing our best to represent every country over 12 monthly issues.

Honoring Italy’s win in the World Cup, this edition of i-94 pays tribute to some of the most innovative and inspiring of art and design, courtesy of a few outstanding Italian artisans. But there’s more than just a good meal in this issue.

Each i-94 interview touches the surface of one’s career, but digs deep into their “life in America.” Want to know their credits, Google them. Want to know their American journey, read i-94.

FYi-94 is here to help you with pertinent acclimation information from health insurance to taxes, universities to road rules. Visiting LA? Don’t cross the street until the lighted sign says so. It could cost you 90 dollars and a day in court.

Far from LA, “My Life In…” will feature a special someone’s life in a faraway land, just as a reminder of how far we’ve all come.

Our music, book, style, travel, and film reviews are not “critiques,” but “profiles.” i-94 is here to promote the good, not the bad. Look elsewhere for warnings. If it’s in i-94, you can assume it’s good, be it entertaining or intellectually stimulating.

You may come across vocabulary or syntax that seem foreign to the English that you know. It’s not wrong, it’s just different.

From the largest Islamic art collection in America to a 23-year old soul-slinging she-devil from London, i-94 is for the adventurous with a foot across the pond. Christian Oliver’s life in Hollywood to Misaki Kawai’s “Space House” installation at Boston’s new ICA. The Good, the Bad, and Queen, to the BAFTA (British Academy of Film Television Arts) LA soccer team, we mean football squad.

Discover the sonic wizardry of French duo AIR with their latest release before learning about the sculptured eroticism of Khajuraho. We’re even debunking aviation myths with a British Airways pilot, then jetting to Lebanon to listen to Scrambled Eggs, the purveyors of Beirut’s underground rock scene. Italian avant-guard artist Bettina Werner’s American Dream-come-true in Manhattan to a roadside cruise up the New England coast for a lobster lunch, and so much more, consider i-94 your cultural comfort blanket.

Browse through our inaugural edition, enjoy the complimentary membership, and don’t forget; there’s a whole world out there.

Enjoy the moments, wherever you may be,
